How to Deal With a Heavy Period. thank me later

Having a heavy period is nothing to be embarrassed about. This guide will help you deal with those annoying days of the month

Keep track of your period. Write down what day it starts, how heavy it is each day, when it stops, and how you feel each day. This paper can help you predict your next period and can help for Step 4.Keep track if heavy periods continue. This can cause you to become anemic. Heavy periods count as more than 6-7 soaked pads or tampons in a whole period.Remember that your first year/months of your period may cause it to be irregular and as such can make them unpredictable.

Make sure you have enough iron in your body. When your period is heavy, you lose a lot of blood, depleting the body's natural iron supply. Take a multivitamin that has iron in it, or try a pill/powder that just gives you iron. Eating iron-rich foods like steak can help restore what's being lost.

Keep hydrated. If you stay hydrated, you will feel less miserable during those days of the month.

Consider talking to a doctor. They can give you medicine (usually birth control) to make your period less heavy. Make sure you keep track of your periods. They will ask you how long they last, how you feel during your period, and how heavy they are.

Keep your purse with you wherever you go for being discreet about changing your products. Make sure you have enough products to last for a whole day. Go to the bathroom when you need to change your products. If people ask you why you keep going to the bathroom, just say that you drank a lot of water earlier. You can also say, I am not feeling too well today.

Consider using a menstrual cup. Some of them have a greater capacity than pads or tampons and you don't need to carry any supplies throughout the day

Take some medication for the cramps if you want. Aspirin can cause you bleed even more.

Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables
Eat fruits to sustain a good blood sugar level, as well as starchy foods

Get lots more sleep. If you use tampons, make sure to change them as soon as you wake up!

Avoid panicking if you overflow. It happens. Just take a shower, change your underwear/pants, and move on.

Try not to be ashamed or embarrassed to talk about how you feel, keeping the feelings in can make you feel worse
